Malibu travel guide: how to get there and where to stay, what to see and where to sunbathe. The highlights of Malibu: fresh reviews and photos, places to see, branded entertainment and beaches.

According to act-test-centers, Malibu is an alluring pleasure city. An endless pier that goes into the blue of the Pacific Ocean, fearless surfers and divers, even more numerous vacationers basking on the sand, villas of world celebrities on private territories, the most famous “serial” beaches. All this is Humalivo (which is translated from the language of the Indians as “the surf sounds loud”), or modern Malibu, to which generous nature has released about 40 km of the cleanest spacious beaches. This “star” town, whose “autonomy” has only a couple of decades, is located in the northwestern suburbs of Los Angeles.

How to get there

Several American companies (Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, USA Airways) operate regular flights to Los Angeles, and from there you can get to Malibu via the Pacific Coast highway.

By the way, this is practically the only road in the city, it stretches along it.

Also, tourists will be delivered to Malibu by a high-speed train from

Santa Monica and Washington.

Transport

The only available form of public transport is the buses, which are painted bright blue. You have to wait for them at the bus stop from 15 to 30 minutes. Therefore, if opportunities allow, it will be faster to travel on your travels in a rented car, exposing your face to the sea breeze (at rental stations in Malibu, there are enough ordinary cars and convertibles). Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to explore the surrounding hills of Malibu on a mountain bike, which can also be rented.

Malibu Hotels

It’s a paradox, but the city, visited by millions of people annually, is not particularly focused on the tourism business, but still, Malibu has small family hotels and luxury apartments. The most popular and loved by tourists, of course, are hotels on the coastline: Malibu Country, Malibu Beach Inn, Casa Malibu Inn, Surfrider Beach Club, Malibu Motel.

In addition to hotels, vacationers can use rental housing, which may be a more economical option.

In addition to them, at the service of vacationers – rented housing, which may be a more economical option. At the peak of the season, hotels “remote” from the beaches will render good service, including Good Night Inn, Hampton Inn. And in the most extreme case, when absolutely all rooms and rental housing are booked, you can stay in hotels in Santa Monica or Los Angeles (Hilton, Holiday Inn).

Cuisine and restaurants

There are a lot of options for what and where to eat in Malibu: fish fast food at the Reel Inn or a democratic breakfast at the Carbon Beach Club in the open air, try real sushi at Nobu Malibu, Italian delicacies at Sage Room Restaurant and Tra di Noi or Greek at Taverna Tony. There are many small restaurants and cafes that spoil visitors with typical American dishes and seafood: Dukes Malibu, Malibu Seafood, Marmalade Cafe, Moonshadows.

Paradise Cove is unique in its kind, the only restaurant in Malibu that has its own bay and beach where alcohol is allowed. Obviously, this explains its high popularity among tourists and the local population. Experienced travelers are advised to book tables in advance, even for breakfast.

Shopping and shops

Inveterate shopaholics in Malibu have their own “Mecca”: along Highway No. 1 lined up Malibu Country Mart, Malibu Colony Plaza and Malibu Lumber Yard, the largest shopping and entertainment centers, replete with boutiques of famous brands. Interestingly, many well-known brands are ready to work in Malibu at a loss, but have this item in the geography of their outlets.

For all kinds of trinkets, books, postcards with city views and other souvenir delights for family and friends, as well as T-shirts, caps with “commemorative” inscriptions indicating your stay in Malibu, you should go to Malibu Beach Supply Company, Malibu Beach Supply Co, Adamson House Gift Shor, mainly located at the end of the pier (Malibu Pier). Shopping will be complemented by a pleasant walk along the coast, the opportunity to look at the luxurious houses of millionaires and Carbon Beach, as well as a snack or a refreshing drink at Rudy’s Shake Shack and Beachcombers Cafe.

Entertainment and attractions in Malibu

It would be a mistake to think that Malibu is only beaches and celebrity houses. Here, surprisingly, quite a diverse and rich program. First of all, perhaps, it is worth mentioning one of the most ranked US universities, Pepperdine University, whose town occupies a decent area at the foot of the Santa Monica Mountains. In addition to educational and residential buildings, on the Pepperdine campus are the Weissman Art Museum, the Garden of Heroes and the Graziadio Executive Center villa (a symbiosis of a hotel with a restaurant and a conference room equipped for training and seminars).

Hikers can expect miles of scenic trails in Charmlee Wilderness Park and Mountains Recreation Area, which is next door in Santa Monica. The route runs through meadows and copses, on the hills offers a gorgeous panorama of the beaches of Malibu. The only thing you should not forget is to inspect yourself and your companions on walks, the ticks are not asleep. You can also enjoy coastal views on excursions to Solstice Canyon and horseback riding at Park Place Stable.

It is absolutely impossible for wine connoisseurs to pass by David Minkin’s show Malibu: Magic and Wine Tasting, during which all participants of this action will have a tasting of 4 varieties of wine and a “magical” excursion to the wine cellar.

The tasting room of the Rosenthal vineyard also hospitably opens its doors.

Warm sweaters are not a problem for visitors – entertainment performances take place in the open air until late in the evening, and it is not hot in the wine cellar.

Tourists who are not indifferent to the historical and cultural heritage are welcome at the Adamson House, the Malibu Lagoon Museum (the museum exhibits the history of the town from the time of the Indian settlement) and at the Getty Villa, a miraculously preserved classic example of a Roman estate.

Surfers, divers and just lovers of admiring the majesty of the ocean are on the way to the famous beaches of Zuma, Westward Beach, Malibu Lagoon State Beach and Surfrider Beach. “Spring” guests of Malibu are unlikely to remain indifferent to the annual film festival.

So, “27 miles of pleasure” (that’s what the inscription on the sign at the entrance to Malibu says) is ready to give everyone an unforgettable experience!
